We are growing - Bridgeport, our premier development (a mixed-use walkable community with apartments, restaurants, gym, hair salon and more), is currently under construction and partially open in North Suffolk.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Controller and Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant performs professional work in the maintenance and preparation of ongoing budget, cost and construction reporting. This includes, but not limited to, working with the accounting team to plan, collect, and analyze data to support the management decision making processes. This role will also be responsible for maintaining critical spreadsheets on a monthly basis to support various month end close out processes, such as accruals for real estate taxes, payroll and prepaids. This position will also include additional accounting department responsibilities such as, but not limited to banking and cash management, general ledger accounting, and serving as a backup to the Accounts Payable staff. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines under pressure.

Recurring functions:

  • Support the controller by compiling and managing monthly construction cost data
  • Generates monthly reports for management review
  • Works with the construction department, accounts payable and the contract administrator to ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly deadlines and reports
  • Supports accounting management with monthly close and other processes
  • Provides relevant process improvement recommendations
  • Assists with software support and customizations
  • Support and serve as the primary backup to Accounts Payable staff


    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a role related to job functions REQUIRED (experienced in a real estate or construction environment strongly preferred)
    • Solid Excel skills and a general understanding of working in a real estate or construction accounting system REQUIRED
    • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong analytical skills REQUIRED
    • Accounts Payable Experience is REQUIRED
    • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
    • Yardi and construction accounting experience considered a plus
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or business-related field considered a plus
