Job Description:
Duties--- You will review and approve structural design
calculations, methods of analysis, and fabrication/assembly
drawings of complex or uncommon types of weight handling
equipment.--- You will design/manufacturing submittals by crane
design and manufacturing firms for conformance to criteria and good
engineering practice.--- You will serve as Design Manager, with
complete responsibility for all technical aspects of the
projects.--- You will review the structural designs/drawings
prepared by other engineers within the Branch for structural
adequacy, compliance with functional requirements, coordination of
structural and other engineering features.--- You will perform very
difficult investigations of special problems such as stress
analysis, evaluation of distribution of loads, and other problems
requiring a high degree of knowledgeRequirements Conditions of

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized
experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in
the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or
public sectorSpecialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Applying full mastery of professional structural engineering, as
well as multi discipline engineering principles and established
industry practices; 2) Possessing professional knowledge of
structural engineering principles applicable to the full range of
engineering duties, and skill in applying this knowledge to
difficult and complex work assignments; 3) Applying original
thinking, analytical approaches, and ingenuity to solve the most
difficult problems of nonrecurring nature, he/she analyzes assigned
project requirements, identifying potential problem areas; 4)
Reviewing and approving structural design calculations, methods of
analysis, fabrication/assembly drawings of complex or uncommon
types, research materials requirements and properties which are not
available from reference books or industry publications and
performs preliminary estimates of key loads and dimensions for

calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and
chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering
science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of
materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics,
hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits;
(f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and
aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable
area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics,
heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronicsSuch education must
demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do
the work of the positionOR Current registration as an Engineer
Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a
Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia,
Guam, or Puerto RicoAbsent other means of qualifying under this

of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate
