Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years critical care experience preferred; will consider strong candidates with less than 3 years. License: Virginia or compact license required at the time of submission. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong neuro experience required (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke), vents, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia and emergency management. Description: Chesapeake is located in a beautiful area known as Coastal Virginia. It is an outdoor lover's paradise offering trails for all levels of hikers and over 20 waterways to explore. Candidates must have strong neuro experience. The facility will not consider any license or background issues. Candidates who have any prior issues will be eliminated from consideration. The position involves floating to the Stepdown Unit and may also include floating to ED/MedSurg to care for ICU patients being held. Patient populations include neurosurgical and post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis and MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath. Skills required include arterial line management, assist with chest tube insertion/removal, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, and central line care/management. Experience with CVP monitoring, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, and emergency medications is also essential. Candidates must be EPIC proficient. There is no accommodation for a PAPR, and any history of fit test issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration. EKG testing is required for certain units, and candidates must successfully complete the evaluation to care for telemetry patients. Modules are required pre-start and are billable.
