The Judge Group is seeking a travel nurse RN CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Chesapeake, Virginia. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – Cardio Thoracic ICU (CTICU) Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) Assignment Length: 13 Weeks (Possible Extension) Start Date: January 26, 2026 About the Role This Cardio Thoracic ICU RN position supports a high?acuity environment caring for post?operative cardiac surgery patients, acute coronary syndromes, and complex multi?system conditions. The unit follows a universal bed model, meaning ICU patients who downgrade to stepdown remain in the CTICU until discharge. Candidates must be clinically strong, adaptable, and proficient in managing both critical care and stepdown?level patients. Schedule Options - 3x12 - Weekdays, every other weekend, floating, and holidays required - Block scheduling cannot be accommodated - Candidates must indicate preference for 36? or 48?hour contracts Key Responsibilities - Provide advanced care for post?operative CABG, STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF, and acute coronary patients. - Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and pulmonary artery/Swan?Ganz catheters. - Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips. - Perform continuous and procedural sedation. - Manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and airway suctioning. - Care for patients with Impella, IABP, CRRT/CVVHD, and post?cardiac surgery needs (direct from OR and non?OR arrivals). - Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and ABGs. - Provide neuro?focused care including post?brain surgery management and EVD/ventriculostomy experience. - Maintain infection prevention standards, PPE use, and wound care including wound vacs and surgical drains. Required Skills & Experience - Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU/CTICU experience. - Strong neuro experience required. - Must be EPIC?proficient. - Ratios: 1:1–1:2 depending on acuity. Preferred Skills - Thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia). - Chronic/acute renal failure management. - Port access. - EVD and ICP monitoring. Licensure & Certifications Certifications marked with an asterisk are preferred. - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS - Active VA or Compact RN License (required at submission; no exceptions) Additional Requirements - No candidates accepted who live within 50 miles of the facility. - Driver’s license required for address verification. - No license or background hits accepted. - Qualivis submission form and current NURSYS report required. - Travel experience preferred.
