eligible.Summary of PositionPrimary responsibility to manage
workers compensation programs and claims and develop strategies for
prompt and economical resolution. Develops solid relationships with
internal and external clients, vendors and industry groups to
ensure Dollar Tree maintains a Best in Class claims process.
Regularly interacts with legal counsel, insurance representatives,
and other departments regarding claims issues. Directs activities
of TPA in matters pertaining to workers compensation.Principal
Duties and Responsibilities - Manage complex workers compensation
claims to reduce costs and improve outcomes Establish injury
reporting procedures and ensure execution of incident reporting at
Stores and DCs Direct Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and assign
and direct defense attorneys on litigated matters. Monitor and
evaluate the performance of selected defense attorneys Develop
litigation networks for the company and manage the cost of workers
compensation litigation Stay current with key changes in the legal
and regulatory environment Manage workers compensation litigation
budgets, evaluate adequacy of case reserves and advise on
adjustments where necessary Establish managed care procedures
Review and manage requests for investigations, discovery, and
mediation/trial preparation Authorize reserve and settlements on
higher severity workers compensation claims Attend claim mediations
and trials as needed Initiate audits and file reviews at TPA
evaluating TPA performance nationwide Develop and manage all
return-to-work programs for Stores and DCs Conduct analysis of
claims data to facilitate decisions on workers compensation claims
program structure and TPA staffing, direction of program to achieve
maximum results, and use of additional resources to augment TPA
capabilities Ensure that insurance coverage positions are
consistent with our policy language and contracts Establish and
manage subrogation processes Coordinate the assembly and execution
of the discovery required by internal and external stakeholders
Manage and mentor Claims Specialist(s) Coordinate claims reduction
strategies with Dollar Tree safety and legal stakeholders Special
projects assigned by Director of Risk Management Conduct financial
analyses of program metrics to evaluate trends in program costs,
losses, and the effectiveness of process improvement initiatives.
Publish metrics and costs through reporting to internal
stakeholdersMinimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of
knowledge, experience and education required. Bachelors Degree 8 +
years of multi state workers compensation (complex, litigated
cases) experience with insurance carrier, third party administrator
or insurance broker Strong analytical skills related to
investigations, claims strategies and claims reviews Previous
supervisory experience demonstrating strong management skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to
handle difficult situations Strong attention to details, including
regular follow up on action items Knowledge of medical terminology,
medical treatment protocols, and legal proceedings Intermediate
technology skills related to Excel, queries, and insurance company
risk management information system Ability to work in fast paced
team environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
Ability to travel with short noticeDesired Qualifications - Desired
but not required. Professional Insurance Designation SCLA, ARM,
CPCU, etc. Retail experience a plusThis is not to be considered a
