Position Description Serco is looking for a Marine Shop Fabricator-Advanced Level team member to join a high-profile and challenging project supporting the US Navy. The Marine Shop Fabricator-Advanced Level will be on a dynamic team, supporting our C5ISR system installations. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our Sailors. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations. In this role, you will: * Layout steel, aluminum and stainless steel heavy and light structure, frames, skids, piping, and other projects for fabrication. * Fabricate all shop projects maintaining high quality, on time delivery, and safety. * Produce X-ray Quality Welds for Aluminum, Stainless and Carbon Steel structure and pipe. * Weld aluminum, steel and stainless steel heavy and light structure, frames, skids, piping, sheet metal and other projects for fabrication * Must be able to maintain high quality welds in a safe manner. * Understand and adhere to the defined scope of work. * Timely and effectively communicate and/or resolve problems in an organized and detailed manner. * Be productive, efficient, and work safely implementing common sense practices sound judgment, and proactive measures. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will: * A High School Diploma or equivalent and 5-10 years of "HANDS-ON" experience in the layout, fitting and welding of structural steel, pipe, plate and sheet metal. * Read and interpret blueprints and schematics. * Get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift. * Be certified in the following process: GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and TIG. * Have own tools of the trade and able to pass precertification company weld test. * Must complete successful qualification in the following Serco Welding Procedures within 30 calendar days of starting date: Successfully pass 3 positions in FCAW steel Successfully pass 3 positions in FCAW stainless steel Successfully pass 3 positions in GMAW aluminum Successfully pass 3 positions in GTAW steel Successfully pass 3 positions in GTAW stainless steel Successfully pass 3 positions in GTAW aluminum * Candidate must be willing to travel up to 50% to various work sites. * Must be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. * Attention to safety critical. * This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens, be able to obtain gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
