Region Americas is responsible for marketing, sales and customer support activities on the American continents. In this position, special focus should be given to support our dealers and our growing Industrial segment, besides our already strong Marine segments. This role is pivotal in meeting Volvo Penta?s targets concerning customer satisfaction and short lead times in customer support activities. **Position Summary** The **Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA)** is responsible for all aspects of supplier performance regarding quality, delivery and launch preparedness in the support our manufacturing plants. The SQA is also responsible for assessing the quality systems being used by current and prospective suppliers to ensure that the end products manufactured by Volvo Penta meet or exceed the customer?s expectations. **Core Responsibilities** + Initiate and coordinate all activities required to certify existing and prospective suppliers, as well as follow-up supplier evaluations when necessary + Managing the business relationship with all assigned suppliers including the implementation of the continuous improvement philosophy in the areas of quality and delivery + Review, verify and certify that supplier processes and controls are sufficient to achieve PPAP approval on all critical components prior to serial production + Lead the successful implementation of industry recognized APQP& PPAP (AIAG) policies and procedures within Volvo Penta + Act as liaison between the supplier, engineering and manufacturing in the development of new parts and changes to existing parts + Actively support the Purchasing Department in maintaining ISO certification compliance (ISO9001/ISO14001), including participating in internal and external audits + Support production and quality teams in case of supplier quality issues + Monitor the quality performance of the suppliers + Support Purchasing with supplier development activities such as quality, efficiency, and cost + support Buyers to find and approve new suppliers (SEM, audits) + Participate as the Purchasing Department Quality representative on all new projects that require the oversight and leadership of a formal Project Management team + Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives **Skills and Knowledge** + A solid understanding of all modern production processes and materials such as castings, machining, and surface treatment + Excellent supplier quality skills, spreadsheet preparation, analysis skills, and ?change management? skills + Blue print reading skills including an understanding of engineering dimensions and tolerances + Experience from quality work (preferably from automotive industry) + Skills in quality methods and tools (APQP/PPAP, Lean, problem solving, continuous improvement) + Neutral approach with suppliers + Ability to independently work and prioritize tasks & assignments + Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, TS 16949, and ISO 14001 + Ability to work in a global organization **Education and Experience** + Minimum of a 4-year degree required (Engineering Degree preferred) + 5 plus years of Supplier Quality Assurance + Project management experience is a plus + Experience from production and automotive industry desirable + Documented experience from quality work and methods (ISO/TS16949, APQP/PPAP). + Technical education and understanding (understanding drawings and other technical documentation) **Compensation and Benefits** **Volvo Penta Region Americas** offers a competitive salary with an excellent benefits package that includes health, life, dental and vision plans as well as a 401(k) with a company match incentive and a robust pension plan. _Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general level of work being performed by persons assigned to the classification.
