Job Overview:The Quality Technician is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager with the timely, accurate and thorough monitoring and reporting of processes throughout the value stream, assuring compliance with customer and Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) established standards and specifications with strict adherence to processes.Our Chesapeake plant runs 24 hours a day, five days per week on 3 shifts.
First shift hours are as follows: 6:45am - 3:15pm Monday - Friday
Job Duties:

  • Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper PPE compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free. Compliance with all workplace and product safety standards and procedures
    • Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC including but not limited to handling procedures and forms, paperwork requirements, etc.
      • Compliance with all data integrity, product safety, food safety, and GMP company and plant standards required.Lead by example in all quality processes and procedures
        • Assist with equipment calibration and care
          • Responsible for the review and verification that company policies and quality/process requirements have been met.Responsible for creating written documentation of quality assurance checks and results of audit and/or inspections
            • Responsible for creating, filing and updating color standard folders
              • Responsible for performing comparison scans to approved customer artwork using AVT software
                • Collects and reviews reject information as assigned by Quality Manager
                  • Assists in supporting the MCC Quality Management and Product/Food Safety Systems as required
                    • Perform internal audits for the plant (i.e. GMP, PSA, Safety audits, Production documentation, etc.)
                      • Participate in improvement initiatives and projects
                        • Required to work with or near press operator to view labels with assistance of strobe light (Warning: Strobe lights may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy)
                          • Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled
                            • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned
                              • Related duties as assigned
                                Experience/Skills Required:
                                • High school education or equivalent
                                  • 3 years+ experience; printing industry experience preferred
                                    • Knowledge of quality assurance inspection or auditing practices.
                                      • Ability to do all duties described plus regular requirements of safely lifting, pushing, pulling 1 - 50 lbs.; 10-20 feet in distance regularly.
                                        • Ability to stand on feet for periods of time on concrete flooring in production area intermittent with periods of sitting (position is not solely a desk job)
                                          • Ability to communicate and interact well with others (proven verbal and written communication skills).
                                            • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test).
                                              • Ability toperform detailed-oriented tasks and stay focused when following instructions for duration of entire shift
                                                • Ability to see fine details in product (must be able to pass eye test & have vision correctable to 20/20)
                                                  • Ability to differentiate differences in colors (must be able to pass color blindness test)
                                                    • Ability to sort and file numbered production folders in sequential order
                                                      • Ability to input data into computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel; Knowledge of MS Outlook or other quality assurance programs is considered a plus.
                                                        • Strong mathematic skills (must be able to perform at minimum addition/subtraction/multiplication/ division functions
                                                        • Ability to type on a keyboard/keypad at minimum of 35 words per minute
                                                        • Ability to work independently and see tasks and projects through to completion
                                                        • Works well in team environment, is seen as a team player
                                                        • Knowledge of ISO/FSSC 22000 or ISO 9001/2015 standards and ASQ Certifications are desired but not required

                                                          PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to:

                                                          • Wear hearing, foot, eye and/or other personal protective equipment while in a manufacturing setting
                                                          • Continually stand for prolonged periods; frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb and balance; moderate to frequent walking
                                                          • Routinely use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and manipulate items; use hands and arms to reach for items in and around the press area; occasionally stoop or kneel while reaching
                                                          • Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
                                                          • Regularly push or pull objects up to 40 pounds
                                                          • Specific vision abilities include - close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color variations, and ability to adjust focus
                                                          • Medium to loud noise environment
