The railway is a path to the future, choose this path and apply today.Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in electrical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university plus 3-5 years of hands-on electrical and electronics engineering design and product development experience, OR Master's degree (M.S.) in electrical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university plus 2 years of hands-on electrical and electronics engineering design and product development experience.POSITION DESCRIPTION:Plasser American Corporation is a part of the Plasser & Theurer group with 18 locations around the world and customers in more than 130 countries. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support our Digital Products, Measuring and Inspection Solutions Business Unit in Chesapeake, VA. In this role, you will work with a diverse group of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers on system design, development, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of measuring and inspection solutions for railroad applications. You will use sensors such as LiDAR, Line Profile Lasers, Line Scan Cameras, IMUs (inertial Measurement Unit), Accelerometers, etc.; design single-board computers, power system; define electrical interfaces; and integrate multiple measuring and inspection systems into a solution. LOCATION:You work from our offices at 2001 Myers Road, Chesapeake, VA 23324 REQUIRED, DEMONSTRATED, EXPERIENCE:This position involves but is not limited to the following. Must be fully vaccinated for the Coronavirus by December 8, 2021.Technical Skills:Working knowledge of the theory of electrical engineering and electronics design Working knowledge of electronics product developmentKnowledge of standards and best practices in electrical engineering designAbility to transform technical and engineering concepts into product requirementsCollecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends on components and productsProficiency in using MATLAB, PSpice, E-Plan, and other relevant electrical and electronics CAD softwareKnowledge in at least one of the following: C/C++Working knowledge of server operating systems such as Linux and WindowsProficiency in using Microsoft Outlook and in creating, editing, and formatting Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint slides at an advanced level Soft Skills: Good communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skillsOutstanding attention to detail, follow-up, and multi-tasking skillsOutstanding organizational and time management skillsOutstanding professional and social skillsWork with vendors to create design and installation specifications and requirements for electrical componentsWorking in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detailBeing proactive and solution oriented with the ability to take initiatives, work independently, set and monitor prioritiesWorking effectively as part of an interdisciplinary geographically distributed team around the world and meeting deadlines DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:Previous exposure to electrical engineering and electronics product design and development in and for railroad environmentExposure to multiple application software languages for example C#, .net, C++Working knowledge of Confluence, JIRA and Project Management best practices About Plasser American: As part of the Plasser family brand, which is the largest Maintenance of Way equipment provider in the world, PAC is a rapidly growing provider of railway equipment in North America.
