The railway is a path to the future, choose this path and apply today.*Day Shift - $500.00 hire on bonus**Night Shift - $1,000 hire on bonus*General Scope: Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.Must be fully vaccinated for the Coronavirus by December 8, 2021.Position Summary: Assemble and install; electrical or electronic wiring, and equipment/ appliances/ apparatus'/ fixtures, using hand and power tools. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measure, cut, bend, and install electrical conduit. Locate conduit (tubing & trays) throughout framework and inside designated walls, or other concealed areas, and pull wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and powered equipment. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Connects power cables to equipment, motor etc., and installs grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. Dresses all wiring in panels and boxes, all components, and all cable runs Performs repairs to faulty equipment or systems.Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but does assist in directing the Electrician Helper with the performance of their duties.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES(The knowledge, skills and attributes required for satisfactory job performance)Education: High School diploma (or equivalent), two-year College degree (or technical school certificate); or a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training.Knowledge: Incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: Basic Electricity and Electronics. The use of electronic test equipment.Skills: Incumbent must demonstrate or participate in internal/external training programs to obtain the following skills:-- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.-- Ability to read, and interpret, electrical schematic drawings, and engineering blueprints.-- Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.-- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.-- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.-- Capable of working in a team environment.-- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.-- Capable of working in a team environment.--Personal Attributes: Incumbent must maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of an Electrician.
