Summary The Compensation Analyst researches job requirement and evaluates job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of salaries and employee benefits. Responsible for assuring job descriptions are up to date and periodically audits job functions and that jobs are appropriately classified. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned. + Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents. + Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job. + Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range. + Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position. + Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales. + Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information. + Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends. + Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials. + Collaborates with department leaders, recruiters and HR Business Partners to support and advise on compensation-related activities such as new hire offers, transfers, promotions, job evaluations, etc. + Prepares data and cost analyses for salary adjustment proposals and make constructive recommendations in the resolution of pay-related issues or in the creation of new positions. + Research employee compensation programs in similar industries; based on findings, recommends changes or updates to the company's existing compensation programs and processes. + Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, human resource procedures. + Evaluates regularly for internal equity. Provides data for that annual EEOC survey and other reporting of wages as requested. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience Minimum Required Education: BS Degree in HR, Business Administration or other related field. Preferred Education: Master's degree Experience: 3+ years of experience as a compensation analyst required. Proficiency with PeopleSoft or other HRIS and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred. Strong analytical skills. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM-SCP preferred
