Scope: Inspects products, purchased and/or manufactured, to ensure
compliance with contract specifications, Shop Order, and company
quality standards. Position Summary:
- Inspects purchased electrical assemblies to ensure compliance
with drawings (order specifications), and company quality
standards. Provides direction for the resolution of
discrepancies.
- Interacts with vendors and ensures they have the correct
company supplied parts, and quantities, that are required per
contract.
- Inspects manufactured products to ensure compliance with Work
Order/Shop Order, associated drawings, and company quality
standards. Provides direction for the resolution of
discrepancies.
- Inspects new and rebuilt engines at the supplier, prior to
delivery (as available); to ensure compliance with applicable
Engine Specification, and company quality standards.
- Per customer specifications, performs required electrical
testing (as required).
- Inspects Electric Shop employee 'workmanship' during the
machine assembly process. Provides direction for the resolution of
discrepancies.
- Enters all required, "Engineering Change Requests" for
applicable Electrical schematics and associated Electrical Assembly
drawings.
- Maintains records of the inspections, and applicable
tests.
- Any additional assigned duties (as required). Education:
Minimum of a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED);
minimum of three years' experience, or training, in the
Electrical/Electronic field; or equivalent combination of training
and experience. To work on or around equipment on Railroad
property; satisfactory completion of FRA, "On Track Safety" and
CSX/NS "Roadway Worker Protection - Contractor Safety" training.
Knowledge: Incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the
following areas:
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic theory.
- Knowledgeable in the use of electronic test equipment.
- Knowledgeable in the reading, and interpretation, of schematic
drawings. Skills: Incumbent must demonstrate or participate in
internal/external training programs to obtain the following skills:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in
English.
- Mechanical aptitude is desired.
- Capable of working in a team environment.
- Ability to plan activities.
- Knowledge of basic IT skills and MS Office Application.
- Ability to read, and write, reports and procedures in various
formats.
- Ability to read, and interpret, schematic drawings and
engineering blueprints.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and solve practical problems
in a variety of situations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from groups of managers, customers, and quality
auditors.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
simultaneously.
- Good mathematical skills: addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division. Understanding of the metric
system.
- Ability to use basic electronic test equipment. About Plasser
