Job Description:

The Satellite Communications Operator/Technician will be responsible for operating and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on satellite communications equipment and associated peripheral support systems. Responsibilities and Duties: + Operate various DoD and commercial satellite communications systems + Operate modems and baseband equipment associated with satellite communications + Perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment + Troubleshoot and repair communications system faults + Prepare written reports as required + Utilize electronic test equipment to troubleshoot serial and IP circuits + Operate power backup systems including diesel generators and UPS + Escort visitors as required + Other duties as assigned Required Skills+ Must have a valid Driver's License with good driving history + Must be familiar with DoD satellite communications operations + Must be familiar with basic computer network operations + Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods + Must be able to climb and work at various heights on antenna structures + Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather + Must be able to work in small spaces + Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs + Must be able to work autonomously with little supervision + Must have good oral & written communication skills + Knowledge of U.S. Navy CMS program preferred + Knowledge of U.S. Navy 3M program preferred + Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred Required Experience+ Military satellite communications SHF or EHF operator course or equivalent accredited college/commercial education required + 3 years' experience in satellite communications equipment operations and maintenance required + High School Diploma or GED required + Active DoD Secret clearance + CompTIA A+ Certifications or equivalent
