Location 2 vacancies in the following location: Chesapeake, VA 2 vacancies Relocation expenses reimbursed No Telework eligible No Duties Summary This position is located in DHS/USCG, Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM), Voluntary Credentialing Branch in Chesapeake, VA. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities This position will serve as an Education Technician; responsible for implementing the Coast Guard's training quota management and voluntary education programs to produce a workforce prepared to execute all missions and functions. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serving as a direct and primary consultant to Coast Guard employees, providing access to vocational services. Receiving, validating and entering professional credentialing and certification completion data into the CG's human resources systems of record. Researching documentation discrepancies and reconciles problems or makes recommendations to ETQC command and supervisor. Assisting with the development and implementation of new or expanded education or vocational programs, including engagement with external education institutions and service providers. Travel Required Occasional travel - The position may require occasional travel. Supervisory status No Promotion Potential 09 Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade. Qualifications AT THE GS 09 GRADE LEVEL: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Executing agency's training policies and requirements; Analyzing training data used and other various entities to make performance improvement and programmatic decisions; managing a portfolio for the issuance of unofficial student education transcripts, updates to assessments, and updates to the official transcript to document the member's military learning experiences. Providing education program and project management services, managing a portfolio of program services, while helping maintain and improve the educational services through policy, process and service changes. -OR- Master's or equivalent graduate degree -OR- 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree -OR- LL.B. or J.D., if related -OR- Combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. Knowledge of USCG training infrastructure, DOD training programs, DOD credentialing programs and national credentialing programs. Knowledge of the government budget and accounting process.
