Level 1 Material Handler

Our Marine Services Division has more than 30 years experience in
providing full-service ship repair capabilities for the US Naval
Vessels including submarines, surface ships and crafts and deep
submergence systems. Operating from state-of-the-art facilities in
Chesapeake, Virginia, we are certified in Submarine Safety
(SUBSAFE) and Deep Submergence System Scope of Certification
(DSS-DOC) repair activities, and specialize in the design, repair,
maintenance, modification, and installation of hull, mechanical and
electrical (HM&E) systems.

Inspect and maintain Controlled Material (Level 1 (L1) and Material
Control Division (MCD)) in accordance with applicable policies and
instructions. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a complete technical receipt inspection, conformity,
verification, and validation of controlled material in accordance
with the applicable specifications and standards specified in
purchasing documentation. Prepare and maintain all relevant
documentation in accordance with applicable process instructions
using applicable OII-MSD forms.
- Ensure all controlled material issued to a specific job
includes the required documents including traceable Objective
Quality Evidence (OQE) to support final Technical Work Document
(TWD) certification and closeout.
- Ensure the receipt, custody, and issue of all controlled
material is carried out in accordance with current company process
- Maintain all OQE records for controlled material in an
- Coordinate the resolution of all material deficiencies and
nonconformities discovered during the receiving, storage, and
shipment processes. This includes performance of causal and
technical analysis, determining appropriate corrective and
preventive actions taken to prevent recurrence, and the evaluation
of actions taken for effectiveness.
- Implement, evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of corrective
actions resulting from audits and surveillances.
- Maintain physical custody and traceability of all controlled
material until issued to the project.
- Establish and maintain segregated controlled material storage
areas as required.
- Follow proper procedures to receive, warehouse, control and
distribute Government Property including the DDS Rotatable Pool

Material Handler is required to do. The L1 Material Handler may
perform other special projects or duties as required to support
- High School/GED with Technical School Apprenticeship Diploma
and additional administrative vocational courses, or High
School/GED with training and experience with controlled

to Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Requirements Manual NAVSEA
0924-LP-062-0010 and Material Control Division material relating to
System Certification Procedures and Criteria Manual for Deep
Submergence Systems SS 800-AG-MAN-010/P-9290.
- Minimum four years working with programs related to detailed
receipt inspections, technical documentation, material custody, and
inventory control. Must evaluate test reports and other
documentation to ensure chemical and physical properties of
received material meet the specification requirements of the
Purchase Order and other technical documents, and be able to
document and communicate the results effectively.
- Must have strong command of Microsoft Office Professional suite
software. Experience with PeopleSoft software is desired.
